Three months ago we moved into our new home and this week we can finally say that Ava’s room is DONE! When we first moved in here, we brought all of Ava’s nursery furniture with us — her crib (with the front taken off), her dresser and all of the decor we held off on hanging. So up until now, Ava basically had an empty room with a couple pieces of furniture in there. I really wanted to create her a big girl room that she’d love, with details she chose herself. And so, over the past couple of months we had the opportunity to work with Pottery Barn Kids (I know, pinch me!) on creating Ava’s dream room.

I let Ava pick out colors, choose her rug, make the final decision on her bed (she REALLY wanted “2 beds” aka a trundle), decide which photos she wanted to have printed and hung on her gallery wall and when her room was almost complete, I asked if there was anything else she wanted in there.

Her one request: “I want flowers in my room!”

So we packed up the kiddos and she chose a couple flowers to put in her room, which are spread out throughout her room. Oh yeah, and you can’t forget her favorite — the cactus. (If you saw our family Halloween costumes, you know what I mean).

There’s a bit of a story behind why we moved Ava out of the original room she was in and into this space (if you watch our vlog below I’ll tell ya the story) but long story short, this room has no door and no closet. You heard that right…

But we managed to make it work with her clothes and her toys and honestly, it’s quite easy to keep clean. We’ll take you on a room in the vlog and let you know my secret weapon to creating an adorable kids room with no closet — it’s simpler than you think but you’ll just have to watch and see!
