We're moving to Utah!

We're moving to Utah!

As you all know, we were in Utah last week on a little family Utah vacation. We’re usually plane people but we decided to road trip this time with all three kiddos and let’s just say, we had a blast but next time we will most likely be taking a plane.

We broke up the road trip from Southern California with an overnight stop in beautiful St. George (I highly recommend this if you have little kids!) and I’ll get to telling you all of the activities we did while we were there but first, the little secret behind this road trip...

Kid Friendly Family Utah Travel Guide - Things to do with kids in St. George/Salt Lake City

We’re both California natives (I was born and raised in Marin County and Frank is born and raised in Southern California) and while we’ve been talking about taking our little family out of state, the timing is finally right for us.

So that’s why we were there, checking out cities and neighborhoods to get a better idea of where we want to move. And while it’s not 100% yet, that was the real purpose of our Utah family road trip... with a little side of fun mixed in.

When we were in the Salt Lake area, we were pretty much driving around cities day and night and looking at neighborhoods we want to consider. So unfortunately I don’t have many Salt Lake City activities for kids for you (we didn’t really do activities there) but I did make a Utah family-friendly travel travel guide a couple years back so I’ll link that for you here!

But as I mentioned, St. George and Park City were our “vacation days” so I’ll give you a little rundown of what we did with the kids those days.

St. George, Utah Kid-Friendly Activities

Hotel: The Advenire Utah (right in downtown so just about everything was walking distance aka no getting the kids in and out of their cars seats over and over)

Judd’s General Store: the cutest nostalgic candy + ice cream shop down the street from our hotel in St. George

Antique Stores + Shops: There were so many little antique stores in downtown St. George and they were so fun to look through!

Feel Love Coffee: We had breakfast and coffee there the morning we left for Salt Lake City and it was the cutest little place with delicious coffee drinks and delicious breakfast!

Pioneer Park: It wasn’t walking distance from our hotel but such a fun kid-friendly place full of exploration and gorgeous red rock views!

Zion: On our way out we stopped by Zion for a couple hours to explore (we need to go back to do some of those hikes) and it was less than an hour drive from St. George!

And then on our way up North we stopped one night in Provo and then one night in Salt Lake City. We stayed at the Salt Lake City Marriott City Center and it was perfectly placed within walking distance of restaurants, dessert spots, etc and unlike the city here, we felt totally safe walking around late night with the kids. It was so clean and so refreshing to experience that in a big city!

Since we basically were living like nomads, booking new hotels each night on the fly, we then decided to head to Park City for our final night and we stayed at the Park City Peaks Hotel. They had convenient shuttles to downtown Park City and the resorts for skiing and plenty of snow to play right there at the hotel too!

And then back to St. George for one more night at the Advenire St. George to break up that road trip before we made the final stretch home.

So sorry I don’t have more of a Salt Lake kid-friendly family travel guide for you since our days were filled with searching for the perfect neighborhood to move to, but click here if you want to check out my old travel guide from when we actually vacationed a couple years back - it was pretty epic!

Utah: You’re a beauty. I think I’m kind of really excited to move. Okay like a lot excited.
